Soap in Bed

Well, now it is tomorrow, so I guess I'd better call it today. My coffee turned into a mess. I ground my beans and then spilled them during transfer. Lord, what misery at four in the morning."But, it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well." I just cut and diced my bargain pineapple without any problem.

Recently, we have become more health conscious. We eat better, and we walk at least a mile, either in-door or out, on most days. None of these things got rid of all our problems, but one odd thing has been quite helpful. I was reading the Senior section in The Dallas Morning News when I found a little article about putting soap under the sheets to help with restless legs. I laughed at how stupid it was, but I tried it anyway. Darned if it didn't work. No pills, no incantations, merely soap that I wrapped in a hankie. It may just be in my mind, but who cares! I no longer have the pain and bother.

Are you out there? I'll be snacking in the late afternoon again. Come and join me for my tea time.

Hi, again,

I am really enjoying my own blog, even if I seem to be the only one who has found it... Right now we are waiting for the man who will hang a new light in my husband's office - all the better to work on taxes in a bright room. We picked the fixture out at Home Depot on Garland Road. The workers there were quite helpful in our selecion. I had never seen such long skinny tubes before, but they are supposed to last longer and shine brighter. According to the box, we will have nine years of use before they burn out. I wonder if either of us will last that long.

Jeff is our building handy man. One of the nice parts of condo living is having good workers available on call. So far, he has hung my new chandelier (one I picked up in the store that used to be Gabberts. It was such a great place with all kinds of surprises around each corner, but I guess the economy got it). He also fixed a leak in my washer hose, and he sealed my French doors. Everyoone should know a Jeff.
We now have a really good painter and a door-man who varnishes beautifully, and I can trust each of them. Plus, they don't break our bank.

Back to tax season. My husband waits all year for this period. He is always looking for ways to help his clients, and he answers questions about odd tax situations that come from around the country. He has a blog that you can reach from this site.
Hey, out there! I'm waiting for you. This is such a quiet Monday after a busy weekend. We met with friends from Lake Ridge - a beautiful place that was really hit hard by real estate fraud and flipping. Right now, it seems to be bouncing back to life. The terrain is lovely, and almost every house has been custom built to the owner's specification. How the flippers got there, I'll never know.
Anyway, we lived there for five years before family and age drew us back to the city.
We ate at S & D Oyster Bar, an old Dallas establishment that earns its great reputation. The oysters were great and the sides were excellent. But best of all was the meeting and greeting of friends. We all exclaimed that time had improved our looks, probably an exaggeration, but pleasant to hear. We caught up on all their gossip and certainly had some of our own.
Then yesterday, before the big game (which we didn't watch), we met family for breakfast at Corner Bakery. What a great place -busy, bright and friendly. Everyone around us was rushing home to watch the Super Bowl. I was rushing to get to the NYTimes puzzle - my favorite Sunday afternoon activity. I got most of it, but not the bands and the albums. The theme was quite clever and it took all my focus until tea time.
A friend, snowed in for a while in Virginia joined me for a cup of tea and talk by phone. That's what got me started blogging. It was such fun to just chat - even at a distance.

Welcome to my blog!

Hello
What a rainy day in Dallas~

We just got back from a walk around North Park - just the right place on a cold, dark and dreary day. I especially like out pit stop for coffee when we sit down and watch the new mothers exercise with their babies. Young, middle-aged and old - every age group is represented as we circle the mall. I guess we are really lucky to have such a neat place to exercise in bad (or good) weather.

For several years, I lived in the suburbs, but nothing compares to good, old Dallas for convenience and excellent facilities. Every time I pass the Nasher and see the sculpture of all those people climbing to the sky, I realize how fortunate we all are to live in this city. And now, I can walk to all kinds of stores, to church, and to Starbucks - either on or off the Katy Trail. I can hardly wait for the new steps on Blackburn Street to be complete.

Right now, I am ready for a cup of tea. Come join me and chat a while.
